Online music lessons for children in the new law after school program by Judith Ran Massera, Beth and Andy Phillips Stollman

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

Chicago, IL (PRWeb) December 18, 2011

Three local musicians, all actively involved in community projects, have created a new project after school for disadvantaged children to learn a musical instrument. The program focuses on children between the ages of 11 16, who come from families who otherwise could not afford music lessons or the price of renting or buying a musical instrument. The idea is to encourage children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to get involved with music. It also gives exposure to classical music and the opportunity to learn the training of classical musicians. Based on a local community center, the project will run from Monday to Thursday afternoon.

Tags: “In addition to weekly classes, we offer a favorable environment for the children to come and practice after school as well as free lessons, we also provide the tools,” said Beth Stollman, one of three musicians who started the project. The price of the rental or purchase of musical instruments is considered one of the biggest obstacles for children from poor families to start learning an instrument.
